Jungle Island is proud to host the 10th annual Fun and Fit as a Family event sponsored by the Food Network and Cooking Channel as part of the 2017 South Beach Wine and Food Festival. With delicious sponsors such as Goya Foods and Badia Spices, this event is aimed to educate families about healthy lifestyle options including making better food choices and adding daily exercise to their routine all while strolling along beautiful Jungle Island.
This two-day event which takes place on February 25 and 26, features some great celebrity chefs such as Duff Goldman, Robert Irvine, Eddie Jackson, Rev Run, and Justine Simmons. Local culinary personalities Adrianna Calvo and Andrew Zimmern will also be on hand. First time participants, former Miami Heat champion Ray Allen and his wife Shannon, are also among the guests set to bring some guidance to parents of dietary restricted children.
“As busy parents of five children (and especially our son Walker who lives with Type 1 Diabetes), Ray and I know how important it is to make sure our family is eating real food and getting the nutrients we need on a daily basis,” says Shannon Allen. “We’re honored to be able to host Fun & Fit as a Family at Jungle Island and to show parents and their kids a few of our favorite time saving recipes from our family’s bag of tricks that we’ve relied on over the years of making Ray’s pregame meals – and more recently at our USDA certified organic fast food concept, grown, ‘real food, cooked slow for fast people™’, at this year’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s signature family event!”
For $20 per person, families can enjoy a day filled with delicious food samplings, cooking demonstrations from some of the country’s greatest chefs, and fitness activities while still enjoying the beautiful Jungle Island venue. And don’t forget to stop by and peek at the exotic animals that call Jungle Island home.
To kick off the fun, Jungle Island as well as the Food Network and Cooking Channel will host a social media contest titled “10 Days of Giveaways” starting February 15th. For more details and how to join in on the fun, follow the Jungle Island Facebook page.
We can’t think of a better way to spend the weekend. Who doesn’t love a little food, entertainment and fun critters at a beautiful Miami location?
