Armed with a clever working title and a detailed clapperboard, the untitled Han Solo Star Wars spinoff movie has officially begun filming today.
Co-director Chris Miller confirmed it all with a simple tweet “Han First Shot”, immediately calling to mind the legendary character’s first appearance back in 1977’s “A New Hope” when he was confronted by Greedo inside the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine. (And yes, Han Solo did shoot first!)

Miller and co-director Phil Lord also helmed “The Lego Movie” as well as “21 Jump Street”, and Lucasfilm (in addition to Star Wars fans) will be counting on them to bring over some of that trademark wit and zany humor to the second “Star Wars Story” anthology film after the wild success of “Rogue One”.
As the slate displays, cinematographer Bradford Young is shooting the movie in 6K resolution but as fans scan the picture for more clues and hints….what’s with the “Star Wars Red Cup” working title?
Ah, Solo red cups…very clever guys!
The untitled Han Solo movie is set for release in 2018 and stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian as well as Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Woody Harrelson as Garris Shrike, a character from the extended Star Wars universe.
