Walt Disney World has updated their official site with showtimes for the new Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, marking the first public performances for the long-delayed nighttime show.
The site’s dedicated page for Rivers of Light now shows a 7:15pm availability for the show beginning Friday, February 17. There are no showtimes listed for Mondays, Wednesdays, and subsequent Fridays however. Starting March 12, the showtimes change to 8:45pm, again with no shows listed for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. That changes April 9, with two daily shows listed at 8:30pm and 9:45pm for every night of the week.
There is also a new Rivers of Light Dining Package that is now available to be booked which offers fine dining and reserved seating for the performance, which is especially handy for this show as it only seats 5,000 guests, the smallest capacity of any of Walt Disney World’s nighttime shows.
Disney Moms were given a special preview of Rivers of Light earlier this week so the show appears to finally be ready for the public after a very long delay. It was originally announced back in October 2013 as part of a major park expansion announcement that also revealed plans for the upcoming Pandora: The World of Avatar.
Rivers of Light was set to debut last year on April 22, which was the park’s 18th anniversary as well as Earth Day. Walt Disney World temporarily added a new show The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic to fill in as the park expanded its operating hours and included nighttime offerings, but that show’s run ended last September.
We’ll soon have full video of the River of Light show so stay tuned!
