Walt Disney World guests heading towards the Star Tours attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will come across an unfamiliar sight with the clearing of even more terrain in the former Streets of America area for the Star Wars-themed land coming in 2019.
Only a single Streets of America building now remains (for whatever purpose) near the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant and the trees and shrubs that once occupied the wedge near the Tattoine Traders shop that forked the road to either Commissary Lane or towards the Muppet Vision 3-D attraction is now completely gone. The now-empty structure that used to be Writer’s Stop, which did not close along with the rest of the area back in early April of last year but lasted until late September, continues to exist (for now).
The view from the Tattoine Traders exit yields further insight into the current state of the area.
A close-up of the precise area where Streets of America used to be reveals a little more but so far little evidence of anything Star Wars-related as workers continue on preparing the foundation for the new land.
Keep checking back here at Theme Parks and Beyond for further construction updates as we eagerly await both the Star Wars and Toy Story lands coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
