With the days only getting hotter down here in Florida, we eagerly anticipate the opening of Universal Orlando Resort’s Volcano Bay water park on May 25, 2017. Not only will the park feature lots and lots of new attractions and rides to get your aquatic groove on, but the new next-gen technology — particularly with regards to the waterproof TapuTapu wearable that will be exclusively used there — is of huge interest to theme park aficionados such as ourselves.
As detailed on Universal Orlando’s official blog, the story of Volcano Bay has just been revealed today and the mythology of the Waturi (sounds like a lot like “water”, doesn’t it?) tribe and the inspiration behind this tropical paradise is not only cool and interesting but reveals more about the new park that is just a few short months away from opening.
Check out the video:
The Creation Myth is essentially the story of a fiery god named Krakatau and his daughter Tai Nui, Upon learning of a romance between her and a local villager, he banishes his daughter’s lover Kala to the sky to become the Moon. Tai Nui’s tears became the Sea and her father, realizing what he had done, reached deep into the Earth’s core and created the majestic Volcano Bay to reunite the two while burying deep within the fire spirit Vol.
Much later, the Waturi tribe came across this paradise and settled there while bringing in their inspiration of Polynesian cultures and architecture. That’s where you come in, as you’ll be greeted and welcomed as one of their own. With your very own TapuTapu wearable, you can wander and explore free of the constraints of waiting in line to experience their numerous attractions. The TapTapu can also fully interact with the surrounding environment thanks to its TapTu capabilities.
Universal Orlando Resort’s Volcano Bay water park officially opens on May 25, 2017. See you there!
