If you’ve never been to the wondrous Chinese Lantern Festival, or would like to experience it all over again when it came to Boca Raton earlier this year, you’re in luck because the family-friendly event is coming to Central Broward Regional Park starting November 21 and lasting through the holiday season until January 15, 2018.
Produced by Hanart Culture, this 8-week festival will be visiting South Florida for the first time and promises a deep and immersive experience infusing Chinese culture with plenty of live entertainment, genuine Chinese cuisine, arts and crafts, and of course those incredible lanterns.
“We call the lanterns, but make no mistake these are not hand-held candle-lit lamps,” event producer George Zhao said. “From humble beginnings of silk and paper, the Chinese lantern has evolved into the wondrous shapes and sizes of our modern era. Our exquisite shapes are lit from within by thousands of LED bulbs, yet still made by hand of silks, satin and natural materials.”
Twenty artists from China will be working on the site for several weeks to bring “The Wild” theme to life, featuring different animals from around the world including lions, pandas, giraffes and even dinosaurs!
Walking through these incredible lanterns may be the highlight of the festival but guests can also enjoy live kung fu performances, traditional folk art exhibits, and much more.
Advance tickets are now available online at ChineseLanternFestival.com (direct ticket link here) at a discount: $22 for adults ($25 at the gate) and $12.50 for children ages 12 and under ($15 at the gate). Children under 3 are free and discounts are available for groups of 12 or more.
The Chinese Lantern Festival will be open Nov. 21 – Jan. 15 on Wednesdays through Sundays each week from 5:30pm to 10pm. The Central Broward Regional Park is located at 3700 NW 11th Pl, Lauderhill, FL 33311.
